Hi Everyone,

In an effort to complete our Professional Development Plan, I thought it might be more advantageous to try and jump-start it via online communication since, there have been so many postponements. (A wiki is a document that we can all have input on; just click edit add to the document and save when you are complete.)

On the left are the page titles of this wiki, with files attached. These are files I sent previously in emails. and a copy of a draft that we had from prior years. I am looking for input from everyone online. I will try to compose an updated draft from your input, and then we can meet to discuss.

Please scroll down and add your name, role, and site and follow the directions below:

Name - Role - Site
Paige Harris - STEM Teacher - NCOC

Diane, it would be great if you could check on the certification requirements to see if they are still current. They start on Page 7.

Would it be important to also include professional develpment for our administrators? Especially newly certified administrators that need the 175 hours?

If everyone could look at the (PDEvaluationReflectionTemplateSample and the full set of Standards), you will see that the first Standard is asking:

Is the professional development based on the needs of participants?

Is the professional development sustained and on-going?

Is the professional development embedded?

Does the professional development incorporate adult learning?

It is important that we do a needs assessment. Therefore, teachers, please send me questions that I can add to a survey to determine the needs of our staff. A survey is one type of a data collection tool. Principals please look at your data from state tests, teacher requests, student needs, Common Core Standards requirements, etc., You can add the information on the tab on the left that is titled Needs Assessments, that you think will help us determine the needs of the staff.

Also, let's look at specific professional development that we should consider on:

Data Driven Decision Making

Common Core Standards

Electronic Portfolios

iPad Integration

Technology Integration

Best Practices

Writing

Thank you; together we can create a PD plan that will be useful and enhance PD for our staff.
